Public Meeting of NHS Calderdale Clinical Commissioning Group 2pm, Weds 14th November.

Calderdale Clinical Commissioning Group’s Governing Body will meet will in public, 2-4pm on Wednesday 14th November at Dean Clough,  Shibden Meeting Room.

This is on the 5th floor of F Mill, Dean Clough, Halifax HX3 5AX.

Members of Calderdale NHS 38 Degrees will attend, as usual. Calderdale NHS 38 Degrees are meeting at 1pm on Thursday 14th November, one hour before the CCG meeting, in the little cafe next to the the NHS headquarters at Dean Clough.

Upcoming UN Climate Change talks in Poland will be greenwash

At the upcoming UN climate talks, the Conference of Parties (COP) 19 in Poland, the EU aims to expand carbon markets that would benefit big polluters, says a Statement signed by 135+ groups, movements and networks from all over the world. The Statement denounces the corporate capture of COP19 by the same companies that stand to profit.

Tamara Gilbertson from Carbon Trade Watch said,

“The European Commission and the carbon crooks who turn profits from the failing EU ETS are pushing for a lifeline through linking up markets, foreshadowing a global carbon market.”

The statement explains that COP19 partners include Polish energy group PGE, whose Belchatow coal-fired plant was the biggest polluter and the biggest recipient of free allowances in 2012.

Coca Cola’s “Plant Bottle” is greenwash – and that’s official

The Danish Consumer Ombudsman ruled earlier this year that Coca Cola’s marketing of its “Plant Bottle” is greenwashing. The ruling was based on the Danish and European Marketing Practices Act, which requires factual evidence to back up claims about environmental friendliness.

Public pays £705 for #Calder Valley MP’s energy bills

A Sunday Mirror report has found that Craig Whittaker MP has claimed £705 of gas and electricity costs, to be paid for by the public.

According to the 2008 Calderdale Private Sector Stock Condition Survey, 24% of his constituents are living in fuel poverty. This means they are at risk of a variety of health problems and even death.

Does Calderdale MBC use a renewable energy supplier?

Calderdale Council recently held a conference to promote its Calderdale Energy Future policy. This aims to radically reduce the area’s carbon emissions, in order to help reduce climate change caused by burning fossil fuels.

Incredible Edible Mytholm had a stall last Saturday in St George’s Square, to chat to people about our proposals for an eco-attraction on Browns Field/Mytholm Works brownfield site. We carried out some market research, to find out if people would visit the eco attraction, and collected signatures in support of the project.

Losing your Feed In Tariff payments? Here’s what to do

Community groups are losing Feed In Tariff (FIT) payments for their renewable energy installations, such as solar PV and wind turbines, because they have received Big Lottery Fund (BLF) grants.

Earlier this year, Pennine Community Power were in this position with their wind turbine and had to repay £8,800 to BLF, out of a £30,000 grant, in order to have their FIT payments reinstated.
