Hebden Bridge Town Partnership Action Plan launch on May 18th

Hebden Bridge Town Partnership is a group that includes representatives of Calderdale Council, the town and parish councils, local businesses, and community and voluntary organisations. A registered charity, its aims and objectives focus on promoting “the environmental economic and social regeneration of Hebden Royd and the four adjacent parishes of Blackshaw Head, Erringden, Heptonstall and Wadsworth.”

It is launching the town Action Plan, 2020 Vision, on Saturday May 18th in Hebden Bridge Town Hall.

The event starts at 10am and continues to 3pm and you are welcome to drop in at any time. There will be a series of workshops throughout the day on particular topics and themes. The full timetable for the day will shortly be on the HB Town Partnership website.

New NHS privatisation regulations to be debated in House of Lords on 24 April. Campaign now.

This is  a briefing from Keep Our NHS Public (KONP). It basically asks you to write to LibDem and Cross-bench peers asap,asking them to block the second set of NHS privatisation regulations. It provides examples of standard letters for each type of peer. It also asks you to write to your MP asking them to support Early Day Motion (EDM) 1188, if they haven’t already done so.

50th anniversary conference on EP Thompson’s The Making of the English Working Class

The People’s History Museum and The Working Class Movement Library are holding a one-day conference on Saturday 13th April 2013 to celebrate EP Thompson’s classic history book, The Making of the English Working Class.

Change of venue – Growing Futures Field Day will be in Hebden Bridge Town Hall & courtyard

What with snow and mud, Incredible Edible Mytholm’s decided it could be unsafe to hold the Growing Futures Field Day in the Mytholm playing field this Saturday, 30th March. This is a shame, we were looking forward to it.

But now we’re looking forward to holding it in Hebden Bridge Town Hall, in the Waterside Hall and courtyard!

Hebden Bridge Community Association have been fantastic in accommodating us at short notice, so that all the scheduled events can still happen.

April 1st starts stealth privatisation of NHS – every day, things are getting worse

Save Lewisham Hospital Campaign is calling on everyone to lobby Parliament and MPs on 26th March, and write to Lords to oppose  regulations that are the thin end of the wedge for stealth NHS privatisation.

We want to make sure that CCGs are not forced to use competition, but can decide for themselves whether they use NHS services or whether they choose to use private providers like Virgin or other international companies.”

Also, you can ask your MP to sign the EDM 1188 aiming to get a public debate on the new regulations.
