If anyone fancies some practice to test out the route and timing for the Save Calderdale and Huddersfield A&Es side march to the main Call 999 for the NHS Jarrow – London march, you’re welcome to join Katherine Horner and her mum who will be walking the route from Huddersfield to Dewsbury on Sunday 1st June, starting from Huddersfield bus station at 11am.
Unfortunately Katherine has had to cancel the 27th May practice walk from Calderdale Royal Hospital to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.
Katherine is organising the side march, to take place on 23rd and 24th August. It will start at Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax and go past Huddersfield and Dewsbury Hospitals to the outskirts of Wakefield, where the march will join the main 999 Call for the NHS Jarrow to London march.
Katherine said,
“As everyone will be aware, in late August the Call 999 for the NHS March will be taking place. The ladies will be marching from Jarrow to London, arriving in Wakefield on the 24th of August. It’s vital Calderdale and Huddersfield show their support, and also show our opposition to the proposed closure of Calderdale A&E. So the idea is we walk from CRH to HRI to Dewsbury on the 23rd of August. Stay over in Dewsbury. Then set off Dewsbury to Wakefield early in the morning on the 24th, finishing off in Wakefield with the lovely ladies from Jarrow. All welcome, you can walk both days or just one day. I’ll post any updates on the event page.”
You can join the event by signing up on the Event page. We need to know rough numbers and the main 999 Call for the NHS march would also like to know how many are liking to join them in Wakefield.
