Blackshaw Environmental Action Team AGM, 9th October

The BEAT AGM and public meeting is at 7.30pm on 9th October at the Chapel (the Methodist Church in Blackshaw Head).
What should BEAT do in 2014?
All are welcome to come and discuss what BEAT should do in the coming year.  One option is to do more on energy conservation. Calderdale Council has suggested a partnership with BEAT and the Carbon Coop to apply to the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) for a minimum grant of £1 million to do insulation work of hard to treat houses (e.g. houses where the cavity wall cannot be insulated).

Mike Kaufman from Planet Hydrogen in Manchester will speaker and bring a model to how hydrogen can be created from water and used later for energy (energy storage).
Finn Jensen said,
“We are always looking for new people to go on the BEAT committee. If you may be interested we would love to hear from you – whether you are able to come on the 9th or not. Pete Bradley is resigning as chair – although he is staying on the committee – so we will also need a new chair.”
Calderdale Energy Future Conference on 14th October
BEAT is already working closely with Calderdale Council through the panel of Calderdale Energy Future, which is holding a conference on Monday 14th October 3.30-7pm at Calderdale College in Halifax. It is open to the public.
Donate to BEAT through
You can have donations to BEAT doubled (and Gift Aided if you are a tax payer) through from 15th October until the £500,000 fund have all gone. The first ten pounds can be doubled- or with a monthly standing order, the first £10 each month  will be doubled for six months.
Finn Jensen said,
“At the AGM we will discuss if we should use the BEAT account at to allow people to give donations to the food banks in Tod and/or Halifax. Your views will be welcome.

Hope to see you on 9th October at 7.30PM in the Chapel.”
