Judge says Sainsbury’s Local can’t go ahead in Hebden Bridge

A High Court Judge has told Eshton Gregory Ltd that he won’t accept their appeal against the Planning Inspector’s refusal to allow planning permission for a Sainsbury’s Local on the site of the former Hebden Bridge Fire Station on Valley Road.

Eshton Gregory made Hebden Bridge people very mad by proposing to build a Sainsbury’s Local store on the site, and there has been sustained opposition to the proposal from members of the public and from Hebden Royd Town Council.

Calderdale Council Planning Committee also refused Eshton Gregory’s planning application. Eshton Gregory then appealed against the Council’s refusal but was knocked back by the Planning Inspector.

Now a High Court Judge has basically told Eshton Gregory to bog off. The High Court Judge’s ruling is here.
