Hebden Bridge Ministry of Propaganda Directive 1:
Hebden Bridge Alternative Christmas, Saturday 25th June
Time to decorate the tree. And celebrate the strength and generosity of everyone, near and far, who pulled us all through the last disaster we experienced – the Boxing Day floods.
The timetable keeps changing as new things get added, but basically, the Hebden event starts in St George’s square with Hebden Bridge Junior Band doing carols round the christmas tree at 11am followed by Calder Valley Voices (we think) joining in at 11.30.
In Mytholmroyd t the Gala on Burnley Rd Playing Fields it starts at 1145 with the Bradford Pipe Band.
The first act kicks off in Holme Street at the street party at 12noon.
The Fair for Youth starts at 1pm.
Elf is on at the Picture House at 2pm
The biker’s ride through is from 2.30pm.
The Christmas Market is on all day in Lees Yard.
There is tons more than this of course, with loads of street theatre, bands, activities and even a Tardis, and there should be some kind of programme out tomorrow with printed ones that can be collected from the Tourist Information Centre and Town Hall in Hebden Bridge and from the Gala in Mytholmroyd.
It’s best to take the train, as you will probably need to park on the road in between Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd otherwise.
And remember – carry a red towel and don’t panic.
