HUddersfield KONP invite anyone who mourns NHS cuts and sell offs to meet at Market Cross, Huddersfield on Sat 1 November at 11.00 am.
This is the gathering point for a dignified funeral march round town stopping off at sites where companies involved in privatisation have a high street presence: Boots, Specsavers, Virgin etc.
This will be a powerful visual statement of the threat of cuts and privatisation to our local A&E services and the NHS as a whole.
You can join the event on facebook, here.
The coffin will carried by masked pall-bearers, assuming the identities of people who are doing their best to kill off the NHS as a publicly owned, universal, comprehensive service that is free at the point of need. Politicians like David Cameron, Jeremy Hunt, and their corporate buddies like Richard Branson.
The cortege will be accompanied by a band playing the funeral march.
Huddersfield KONP member Paul Cooney said,
“We need as many people as possible to accompany the procession, preferably dressed in black but this could even be a chance for anyone up for it to sport a few bandages and maybe even dust off that zombie costume!
This should be good fun, get a lot of media coverage but also be an effective way for us to warn the public that without emergency treatment our beloved NHS will surely die by a thousand cuts.”
