There’s an amazing list of plants native to the HX7 postcode area on the Natural History Museum site.

Why does it matter whether plants are locals or offcumdens? Aren’t they all one big flora family? Well yes, but research shows that indigenous trees support far more insects than imported ones. Maybe it’s the same with other plants too. That would be interesting to find out.

Permaculture observation project

In line with Incredible Edible Mytholm’s permaculture aims, we will soon be starting a year-long observation of the site, to see what life is like there for plants, insects and animals – and also to observe what happens in terms of flooding, since it is on a flood plain.

The group’s plan is to buy the site; we have recently had the site valued by a surveyor who is a member of the Royal Chartered Institute of Surveyors.

The site in Tod where ASDA was planning to build a supermarket before the Planning Inspector conclusively said this was not going to happen was recently sold for £500K.
