A Hebden Bridge Public Survey conducted in May 2012 found that, in response to the question “What does Hebden Bridge lack?”, 14% said “a supermarket” while 40% said “Nothing”.
Strangely, the survey report’s interpretation of this response is,
“…the key aspect highlighted that Hebden Bridge is lacking is a supermarket.”
In fact, the key aspect highlighted that Hebden Bridge is lacking is “nothing”.
The Hebden Bridge Public Survey is included among documents relating to the 12/01003/FUL Setbray/Belmont Homes planning application for Mytholm Works.
The Survey was carried out by Curiosity Research, a Liverpool company.
The Survey Report includes the droll statement that Shrewsbury is a town in the “local area”.
The Survey was commissioned by Setbray Properties. Curiosity Research says the purpose of the survey was to assess shopping habits, as Setbray wanted to establish the effect a supermarket may have on their portfolio of shops in the town.
So, anyone not happy with the shops in Hebden can pop to Shrewsbury and see what they have to offer? Bizarre!
