Calderdale NUT are hosting two Education Question Time events in the Halifax and Calder Valley constituencies in the run up to the general election. They are free events, but tickets must be booked in advance at http://ticketsource.co.uk/calderdalenut and are limited to two tickets per booking.
All declared candidates have been invited. Currently this is James Baker LIB, Holly Lynch LAB, Chris Pearson CON for Halifax, and Janet Battye LIB, Josh Fenton-Glynn LAB, and Rob Holden IND Craig Whittaker CON, Kieran Turner GREEN for Calder Valley.
Division Secretary James Wilson said,
“This will be an opportunity for the public to hold those seeking their votes to account on education policy. Given the recent media coverage around funding cuts, grammar schools and primary assessment as well as the recent complaints about a class size of 45 in Brighouse, it should be a lively debate. Education is one of the most important issues in the election, as it is the key to ensuring that children in Calderdale have a future.”
The Calder Valley event is on Monday 22 May at Brighouse Civic Hall. Doors open at 6:45 and the event starts at 7:30.
The Halifax event is on Thursday 25 May at the Threeways Centre in Ovenden. Doors open at 6:45 and the event starts at 7:30.
The NUT is not affiliated to any political party.
