The problem of serious air pollution along the main A646 through Hebden Bridge and Luddenfoot will be the topic of a special public meeting of the Upper Calder Valley Sustainable Transport Group (STG) on Tuesday, 18th February at 7pm in the Greenwood Room at the Town Hall in Hebden Bridge.
There will be a presentation by Sally Jones, West Yorkshire Low Emission Strategy Manager for Air Quality at Bradford City Council. The STG hope that a member of the Air Quality Team from Calderdale MBC will also be able to come.
Sally’s presentation will look at the work being carried in the region as part of the Low Emissions Strategy. After a brief overview of the current work, Sally’ presentation will focus on the A646 corridor and the influences on air quality like stock, bus operators, HGVs, infrastructure etc. Finally, the focus will be on what people can do about the polluted main road through Hebden Bridge from Machpelah to Bridge Lanes, and along a substantial section of Burnley Road. Both areas have already been identified as requiring Air Quality Management.

UCV Sustainable Transport Group notes that the problems of air quality and pollution are not going to go away: they affect Hebden Bridge now and its future. It affects all those who use and live near the A646.
